A few days ago on November 17th, we announced that we would be working in UEFN in the future, and although this doesn’t mean we won’t be working in Halo Infinite in the future, it does have some impact on what we will be doing in Halo Infinite moving forward.
We have always had a goal of making the absolute best experiences we can possibly make with the tools given to us, and with Helljumpers, we achieved that with Forge. So now we look ahead with UEFN, and this article will give you all the information you’ll need to understand what it means for The Forge Falcons as a whole.
Why have we decided to jump to UEFN?
There are multiple reasons as to why we have decided to jump to UEFN, so let’s list them.
Halo Forge Limitations – As stated earlier, we have hit the limit of what Halo Infinite Forge is capable of, so making anything new wouldn’t really be difficult or be much of a learning curve, and being who we are, we always like to improve, become better creatives or like a challenge. Jumping to UEFN allows us to keep doing this.
Reaching More Players – It’s no secret that Halo is at a bit of a low point in terms of releases and an active player base, so we wanted to be able to reach more players… in the millions, and jumping into UEFN and making content there allows us to do that.
UEFN Revenue Opportunities – Using UEFN and making content in Fortnite not only allows us to reach more players, make better content and games but also has exceptional revenue opportunities, possibly allowing us to do this as our full time jobs in the future. Not only that, but it’s possible for us to earn revenue from our creations, from our players support, without needing our players to purchase anything or donate whatsoever. So we can still follow our free-to-play model, without needing to add MTX or making places for people to donate as the revenue is based on player engagement.
Making The Forge Falcons Long-Term – Sticking to Halo Forge doesn’t have any longevity due to the current model it follows and the tools available, but using UEFN allows us to learn and use industry standard tools (UE) while possibly earning a wage at the same time. And regardless of how UEFN turns out, it gives us all Unreal Engine game dev experience. This all makes the future of The Forge Falcons much more exciting and has much better opportunities.
What does this mean for Halo content from The Forge Falcons?
With the jump to UEFN, there has been some changes in regards to team structure and content output on the Forge side of things. There are 3 people from our Forge team jumping to UEFN, so let’s list them:
EliteFalcon’s Role – Falcon’s role before jumping to UEFN was Studio Head, which means he overlooked all areas of Forge development, Falcon’s role will remain the same but instead of just Forge, he will now be overseeing all development across Forge and UEFN.
MaxBloodBath’s Role – Max’s role before jumping to UEFN was Lead Gameplay Designer for our Forge team, which means he made practically every single script and function in our Forge experiences, Max’s role will now be Lead Gameplay Designer for our UEFN team. Meaning Max won’t be working in Halo Infinite for The Forge Falcons moving forward.
Prim 27’s Role – Prim’s role before jumping to UEFN was Lead Environmental Artist for our Forge team, which means he led the art on our Forge projects. Prim’s role will now be Lead Environmental Artist for our UEFN team. Meaning Prim won’t be working in Halo Infinite for The Forge Falcons moving forward.
The roles left by Max & Prim on the Forge side have already been filled by other members of our Forge team, but this big change in team structure will result in a content output change in regards to Forge. Meaning from now on, The Forge Falcons will not be releasing any large experiences or variety modes in Halo Infinite anymore and will instead opt to release maps for our existing modes like Survive the Undead and make small experiences like campaign missions in the future.
We hope you are excited to see what we make in Fortnite and we hope for our diehard Halo fans, these changes still make you happy with the content we will release. Alot of discussions and time went into these decisions so we hope it makes both the Halo players and future Fortnite players happy.
We look forward to making more content for more players then ever before, making content across Fortnite & Halo gives us a much bigger playerbase to work with, and a vastly more diverse one at that.
And to our Halo players, thank you for supporting The Forge Falcons over the last 2 years and being there for every experience we released. You all made it possible for us to form a dedicated team like this, and you all made it possible for us to go to worlds and host our own panel. So thank you.
To Halo Studios, we thank you for supporting our experiences in Halo Infinite Matchmaking and allowing us to host our own panel at Worlds. We always look forward to working with you, adding new content to Halo Infinite Matchmaking for the players to enjoy, is a joy of ours.
We’ll see you in Fortnite.
